About Us

Juliet and Rachel

Welcome to Intentions! My name is Rachel BonesteelI am a New York State Licensed Massage Therapist. I am a graduate of the Mildred Elley massage program in 2011 and I have been an X Ray and MRI Technologist for over 25 years specializing in Orthopedics.

I specialize in massage therapy for pain management, chronic stress, anxiety disorders, panic disorders, and depression as well as migraine, tension and allergy headaches. I specialize because I have a long history with panic attacks and GAD (generalized anxiety disorder). And a very long history with headaches! My absolute favorite is helping people with headaches, neck and upper back tension. Almost all of my clients tell me that I have found the "spot" in their neck that no one else ever has.

I also specialize in, and am certified in fertility, pregnancy, and postnatal massage therapy and am certified to teach infant massage classes. I have two amazing kids of my own (although they are no longer kids) and I know first hand how important massage is during this time of a woman's life. I swear the only thing that got me through labor was my husband massaging my legs and feet.

I suffered from moderate postpartum depression after my first child. Those were some dark and lonely days, but I was able to get through with the help of friends, family, massage and many boxes of Whitmans samplers (I do not recommend all the chocolates).

It is important that we take care of ourselves and realize that we are not supposed to be running on empty and stressed out 24 hours a day because eventually your mind and body will break. I know first hand how this feels and have vowed to never let that happen again.

I am also a Reiki Master Teacher and Integrative Energy Therapist. These forms of energy therapy help address and release stagnant energy and emotions to achieve balance of the body, mind and spirit.

All my sessions are slow and relaxing. I don't believe that massage should hurt and be overly painful other than that "good hurt" feeling. I believe in working with the body to assist it in freeing itself from the chronic tension, pain, stress and anxiety and not trying to force it into doing something its not ready to do. That being said, if you like having a massage that "hurts' with the deepest pressure possible then I am not your therapist.

I find that most of my clients fall asleep or completely zone out during their session, even if we are working on trigger points or any painful issues they may come in with. Many of the clients I work with have anxiety disorders and panic issues so it is a great feeling when they tell me they instantly relax on my table.  (The aromatherapy definitely helps!)

I enjoy doing fun spa massages and steam treatments. I love incorporating different techniques to give you unique healing sessions.

I am always learning new modalities and incorporating them into my regular massages. I don't believe that a hot towel or hot stone should cost more during a session and so I freely use the "extras" in all of my massages so that whatever issue treated in the most relaxing and comfortable way.

The desire to help people to relax and heal in a non-judgmental, comfortable, nurturing and calm setting is the reason I decided to open Intentions. I strive to create a natural, safe and homey feel where you don't feel like just another nameless body on the table. I believe that finding the right therapist and being comfortable with them is key to healing and true relaxation. This is one of the many reasons I do not believe there is any competition in the massage therapy field.

I have also been a tarot card reader for over 25 years. I always felt that if people knew that I read cards they wouldn't value my knowledge as a Licensed Massage Therapist, MRI technologist and Radiologic Technologist. Many of my regular and closest clients have pushed me out of my comfort zone and have supported me in "coming out of the closet" as a reader and I now offer readings at the shop. I feel that this practice only enhances my "tuning in" to the body during massage, and tarot and Reiki truly go hand in hand. So I now cater to body, mind and spirit in a whole new way. It is my truest hope that this doesn't take away my more than 25 years as a medical professional in anyone's eye, but I truly believe that you just gotta be you!

I am grateful everyday for the chance to help people achieve a higher level of healing and live a better quality of life free from the binds of chronic stress, anxiety, panic and depression.

Welcome! My name is Juliet Bonesteel. I am a Licensed Massage Therapist and Professional Wax Therapist. I graduated from the Center for Natural Wellness in 2020 and the Aesthetic Science Institute in 2018. I am continuing to further my massage therapy education in pain management with various classes in order to serve my clients in an even deeper way.

I have learned that massage therapy and Reiki are a very important part in managing my OCD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Panic Disorder on a daily basis. I have struggled with these issues my entire life and am passionate about helping others who have the same. Luckily, I grew up with a mother who shared her medical knowledge as well as any healing modalities that could help which has helped forge my understanding of the mind body spirit connection.

Being a young girl needing a neck massage because my anxiety was so bad definitely put me on a path of wanting to help others. Growing up surrounded by the massage environment and getting regular massage and Reiki sessions most of my life has given me an insight into how the body, mind and spirit is so deeply connected and how working with one area is affecting the whole.

Along with OCD and GAD, I have Social Anxiety and am happy to work with people that feel uncomfortable in social settings. I know how difficult and uncomfortable it can be to come in for a massage appointment and having someone new in your personal space. During the session, I am happy to allow you that space of quiet, but am just as happy to lend my ear if you just need a good vent to let it all out.

I have studied different cupping techniques and offer vacu-cupping as well as medicupping (cupping using a special machine) to assist with deeper healing and a more gentle way to do deep tissue. I also use hot stones and guasha tools in my sessions if need be. I enjoy combining pain relief with relaxation massage in a customized session just for my clients. No two massages are ever the same, because no two bodies are ever the same.

I am a Reiki Master and love working with the chakras to balance out energy. I use chakra crystals and essential oils blends to assist in that gentle energy shift that Reiki and energy work can provide. I feel that the more energy work I do the deeper my practice becomes. I have also been reading the tarot as long as I can remember and may be offering that service in the future. This practice has helped me to manage my anxiety thoughts as well, and points out to me when my thoughts are not in alignment with my path in life. Combining the two helps to keep me in a good place so that I can bring my best self to every day.

In addition to the massage therapy classes I take regularly, I am studying herbal blends that you can use in various way to decrease anxiety and stress as well as other symptoms. I hope to be able to bring these powerful healing herbs to the community soon to help people in a way that many do not even realize.

Thank you for taking the time to meet me. I look forward to working with you!
